The aim of this project ‘Organic, More Healthy?’ was to search ‘biomarkers’ for potential health effects of organic food. The research questions include the identification of possible differences between ingredients for chicken feed, obtained from organic and conventional production systems. We will then look for the identification of biomarkers for health effects that are related to the consumption of organic compared to conventional feed. Therefore we will analyze whether there are differences in the developing immune system of chicken fed with the two different feeds. If these differences occur in the functioning of other organ systems as well which are related to positive or negative health effects, we will investigate whether these differences are connected to the consumption of the different feeds.
